Winsome surely came out of her mother’s womb singing as she sings constantly even replies to a question with a song.

 

At the tender age of six, Winsome started singing in her primary school productions. She would often be seen holding a brush at break time in the play ground pretending to be a 70s artist on Top of the Pops. She continued singing and dancing in school productions throughout her school life.


Winsome greatest influences are from the reggae genre; Marcia Griffiths, Carroll Thompson and Louisa Marks. However she also adores Whitney Houston, Mary J Blige and Keisha Cole.

In her teens Winsome entered talent competitions in Birmingham where she was born. Aged 17, Winsome and her friend Michelle Sutherland, aka "Sugar & Spice", entered and won the Cecil Morris / PCRL Radio "Rising Star" singing competition judged by two icons in the industry, Carroll Thompson and Ruby Turner.

In 1981 a mutual friend introduced the pair to Mr Laurel Aitkin’s the Ska legend from the 60's well known for the tune “ Guilty Of Loving You”. Winsome and Michelle, as the duo "Sugar & Spice" recorded their first tune "Sweet Loving" for Mr Aitkins which reached No 2 in the Black Echoes Reggae charts.

After moving to London in1984, Winsome officially joined the Lovers Rock band Family Love in 1985. The band gave you hits like "Anniversary" and "Decisions". Winsome left the band in 1990 to start a family. The band decided to reform in 2013 and Winsome released “Tell Me Why”.

Family Love released “Hurting Me” Ft Winsome Moncrieffe-Mitchell on the 2nd April and is receiving great reviews and feedback.

Living in London with her four children, Winsome feels she will continue to sing and dance as long as she’s able.

Winsome says "life is for living''. We have one life to live so I am going to live it by loving the life I live and living the life I love". Her favourite lyric is by
Bob Marley "One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain".

Winsome is currently enjoying promoting singles “Hurting Me” written by Lloyd Heron Family Love, “I've got Faith” and “Wild Fire” by Digitec Productions, as well as a few exciting projects with Urban Delight Ents.

Winsome will be performing in Jamaica for "Rock for a Cause" Every Child Matters event Saturday 19 May 2018.
